The NSO ensures the safety and security of employees, visitors, and contractors by monitoring the site and proactively preventing or reacting to hazards, emergencies and threats using appropriate methods, tools (including Use of Force), techniques, skills, and training. The NSO rapidly, efficiently, and safely responds to security events by carrying out access control, intervention, and investigation duties under normal, emergency, and hazardous conditions necessary to safeguard life and property. The NSO operates within both a regulatory and a business framework, meeting both Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) objectives and standards.
