The school for elementary music education in Ćuprija was founded in 1946, among the first in Serbia. Thanks to the successful action of the citizens themselves and the voluntary contributions of the students’ parents, this music school was built.

With twenty-four rooms for individual teaching, rooms for friends of music and a 400-seat concert hall, this building played a significant role in the further development of music.

In the foundation of this building, a message was built that reads: “May this building always be the musical center of our city and a monument to the perseverance of citizens, how to fight for the prosperity of your place, how to fight for the good of the young generation.”

Today, around 160 children from Čupria attend this institution, receiving education in the fields of piano, accordion, trumpet, flute, clarinet and solo singing.

The school is named after the former famous conductor of the Academic Chamber Orchestra, Dušan Skovran.
