Responsibilities

Job Description

The Newborn Hearing Screener performs newborn hearing screenings on inpatient newborns at Strong Memorial Hospital and/or Highland Hospital using electrophysiological tests including evoked otoacoustic emissions and/or automated auditory brainstem response evaluations.

Responsibilities And Distribution Of Time

The Newborn Hearing Screener must assess the daily patient volume (10%), prioritize test recipients (10%), check the calibration of test equipment (5%), perform hearing screenings both in the mothers’ rooms as well as in newborn nursery areas (20%), evaluate test outcomes (10%), document test result information in the infants’ medical record (10%), communicate test results with nurses, physicians and other appropriate hospital staff (5%), schedule outpatient re-screening appointments (5%), manage test data using computer database software (10%), distribute test reports to pediatricians...
