Duties
Rehabilitation Research and Development (RR&D) emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to clinically significant problems identified by healthcare providers and Veterans to improve the quality of life for Veterans. RR&D's goal is to maximize the physical and social autonomy of Veterans and ultimately the general population through innovative research that repairs injured organs and tissues, brings basic discoveries to clinical use, replaces function that cannot be repaired using prosthetics, orthotics, and assistive devices, restores physiological function, and enhances social integration. RR&D is in a period of innovation, developing productive collaborations with other Federal Agencies, Academia, Non-profit and for-profit companies with a common cause - to improve the quality of life for Veterans and in turn the nation.
