Situated on the southern slopes of Swaledale, surrounded by stunning scenery with exceptional views of the Yorkshire Dales, and just a 20-minute walk from the village of Reeth. Originally built as a shooting lodge, YHA Grinton Lodge has been a hostel since 1947. Perched high on the hill and surrounded by open countryside, the hostel offers the opportunity to walk some of the remote Dales moorland as well as take in some of the well known long distance trails such as the Coast to Coast and the Herriot Way, to cycle some of the toughest climbs in the Yorkshire Dales or simply sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility. If history is your thing, we are a stones throw from Richmond Castle (11 miles), Bolton Castle (4 miles) and Barnard Castle (15 miles) or explore the interesting lead mining past of Swaledale.
