Ramsbottom Ward is a 10 bedded unit for female older people with organic mental health problems such as dementia and cognitive impairment. We provide specialist assessments and treatment and aim to offer the best care we can provide to both patients and those that support them.

Patients may be admitted to the ward voluntarily or detained under the Mental Health Act. This may come through consultant psychiatrists, the older people’s community mental health team, mental health liaison team or A&E.

We work to actively promote independence, whilst undertaking a comprehensive assessment of mental and physical health needs.

Our team includes mental health nurses, doctors, healthcare support workers, pharmacists, a physiotherapist and technical instructor. We also work with other health professionals, such as speech and language therapists, community psychiatric nurses and social workers.
