About The Job

The rate of change is intensifying for maritime organizations, which cause rapid changes in the organizational landscape. Over the years, we have witnessed new organizational constellations – where companies have increased their use of outsourcing as a business strategy or entered new interorganizational collaboration due to new competence demands. These changes raise important questions related to how these maritime organizations operate – internally as well as towards external partners.

This PhD call seeks candidates motivated to advance our knowledge of new forms for interorganizational collaboration. Key questions relate to motivations for outsourcing, their considerations in respect to process control and HSEQ, as well as in depth investigation into how this collaboration changes work processes (including coordination, communication, and decision making), ownership of data, and competence management strategies for maritime actors.
