The Negotiator participates in negotiations of non-treaty agreements on behalf of the Province with First Nations. The Negotiator leads substantive negotiations, provides strategic planning advice, and approaches to negotiations and formulates negotiation strategies through consultation with line ministries. The incumbent leads the development of resilient relationships with First Nations and develops innovative reconciliation and engagement strategies with First Nations to advance the provincial economy, job creation, economic diversification, and revenue to the Crown. The negotiator is accountable for leading the initiation, negotiation, and implementation of cross-ministry agreements with First Nations and collaboration with stakeholders and natural resource ministries/agencies.
