Pakistan has been severely impacted by devastating floods in recent years, with the 2022 floods causing widespread damage to infrastructure, livelihoods, health and education. The floods affected approximately 17,205 public schools and disrupted health service delivery, exacerbating already high rates of malnutrition and communicable diseases. The 2023 floods along the Sutlej River in Punjab further compounded the challenges, highlighting the vulnerability of agrarian communities in south Punjab to climate disasters. To address these challenges, the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) has launched a strategic initiative aligned with its 2021-2025 Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals.
