Duties
• Serve as on-site technical expert for mechanical engineering aspects of a construction/maintenance and repair programs characterized by conventional as well as complex and unique research and development projects.
• Investigate and analyze a variety of problems/conditions to provide recommendations; the engineering determinations affect the design or operation of equipment with regard to economy, efficiency and safety of the systems involved.
• Develop initial assignment of projects, outline broad objectives to be accomplished and furnishes guidance on priorities.
• Confer with contractors engaged in projects administered by higher headquarters to advise them of requirements.
• Maintain contact with local and national research institutions, associations and professional societies to remain abreast of new developments in the mechanical engineering field.
