Cellular materials refer to materials that have a cellular or porous structure, consisting of a network of

interconnected cells. These cells can be open or closed, and the material may be composed of a variety

of substances, including polymers, metals, ceramics, or composites. The unique structure of cellular

materials provides them with advantageous properties such as low density, high strength-to-weight ratio,

and excellent energy absorption capabilities. Polymer-based cellular materials, commonly referred to as

cellular foams, are used as filling materials in sandwich structures, with lightweighting and stiffness

functions, or as impact absorbers in passive safety applications for goods and people. They can be
