Overview

The Risk Intervention Services Division is comprised of four integrated units within the Vermont Department of Corrections. These units are Behavioral Health and Life Skills; Corrections Education which includes foundational skills and high school diploma certification, Vocational Training which includes industry recognized credentials and work readiness and Care Coordination.

The RISC sits within the Care Coordination unit and navigates participating incarcerated individuals from the point of referral through continuation of services and acts as the liaison between the local RIS team and other units. These services are prioritized for individuals under 25 without a high school diploma and those who by statute and/or policy are required to participate in prerelease services prior to transition to the community.
