The Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön is an internationally oriented institution whose research focuses on the principles, mechanisms and effects of evolutionary change. Around 180 employees from more than 30 nations currently work at our institute in the departments of Theoretical Biology and Microbial Population Biology, as well as in a number of independent research groups.

We are looking for a new member of staff to join our Bioinformatics Group, a Bioinformatician (m/f/d) in Comparative Genomics.

This is a permanent, full-time position, part-time is possible.

The Bioinformatics Group at the MPI Plön works on fast methods for genome comparison using string algorithms. Examples of the group’s work include a tool for phylogenomics, phylonium, and a tool for finding diagnostic regions from genome sequences, fur.
