DEFINITION
Under the direction of the assigned Captain/Supervisor, provides ambulance transport services as a member of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department (Department).

CHARACTERISTICS
The non-firefighting position of Paramedic (EMT-P) works under the direct supervision of the assigned Captain in conjunction with other Department Staff and the overall direction of the Operations Branch. The primary responsibility of the EMT-P is to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care and transport of patients as a team member of the Department and in support of the El Dorado County Emergency Services Authority (JPA).
An EMT-P is required to be able to make critical decisions that impact the safety, well-being, or life of patients and members of the Department in stressful situations.
