Project Summary:

In close coordination with the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the USAID/Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) Guatemala program’s initial goal will be to increase peaceful and productive public participation in the country’s democratic reform process. The program will operate primarily through a small grants mechanism and will rely on ongoing analysis of the local context to inform programming. The underlying assumptions, theories, and methodology that guide strategic planning and activity development may evolve over time depending on the shifting context in program areas and lessons the program has learned through implementation. The program’s objectives are also subject to change but may include supporting the Government of Guatemala in engaging Guatemalan citizens in ongoing policy reform efforts; and strengthening the Government’s ability to demonstrate tangible progress in these efforts.
