Professor of surgery specialising in gastrointestinal surgery, combined with the position of specialist physician at Uppsala University hospital

Part of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Department of Surgical Sciences has approximately 160 members of staff plus some 200 registered doctoral students, many of whom are clinically active doctors or nurses. The department conducts research and offers first-, second- and third-cycle courses and programmes. Research is conducted in research groups organised around various surgical specialisations and adjacent subjects, such as Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine and Radiology. The department’s educational activities include the Medicine Programme, Radiography Programme and Specialist Nursing Programme. Many of the department’s staff combine their duties at the University with clinical positions.
