Position Overview

Provides a high standard of prosthetic and orthotic care as part of the rehabilitation multidisciplinary team for children with a range of disabilities, orthopedic conditions, and injuries. Works with the hospital leadership team and Cure Network director for prosthetics and orthotics to develop the hospital’s P&O service.

Essential Duties
• Undertakes clinical assessment and examination of patients to determine prosthetic/orthotic suitability in collaboration with the medical multidisciplinary team
• Casts and/or measures patients to enable effective prosthetic/orthotic manufacture and fitting.
• Performs plaster-positive model rectifications as appropriate.
• Specifies the design, componentry, materials, and fabrication method of prostheses & orthoses to meet patients’ clinical needs.
• Advises and maintains effective liaison with technical workshop personnel including assisting with training to ensure high-quality devices are produced.
