What you need to know about the role As a Rail Technologist you will provide specialist technical advice and services to our customers and the rail industry. This role involves site surveying, product development, process improvement work and metallurgical examinations, working with rail infrastructure owners, academia and service providers. You will work to ensure live projects are delivered on time and within both internal and external client’s budgets. You will manage and conduct Research & Development activity for the department and identify new opportunities to submit bids and generate future orders. You will assist in delivery of customer technical service work for rail customers and in the delivery of annual departmental objectives. You will need to become accustomed to the interpretation of and testing of samples along the guidelines of various standards such as BS EN 13674 and BS EN 14587.
