Job Description

The Mental Health Therapist reports directly to the Primary Health Care Manager. Professional peer review and responsibility will be maintained through a joint accountability to Mental Health Addictions through the Manager of the Clinical team and Manager of Crisis Assessment Team. The Mental Health Therapist is an integral member of the primary health care team, in a collaborative, co-location model. As a member of the multidisciplinary primary health care team, the incumbent is primarily responsible for the supporting the providers in PHC clinics in screening, brief intervention and accessing appropriate services for ongoing mental health and psychosocial services for their clients. The services to be delivered through this position included screening and assessing the needs to referred clients and determine a relevant treatment plan which may include short term intervention with the therapist or referral to other community programs.
