Our house is in a rural area just 7 miles south of Edinburgh, between Roslin and Penicuik and situated in an open area in the middle of woodland. There is good access to cycle tracks and the Pentland Hills. There is a bus stop 20 minutes walk from the house for access to Edinburgh or Peebles. Your own car would be preferable for easy access to food shops. We have 9 hens, 5 ewes and 4 lambs that need minimal care but should be checked on once a day, and the hens need to to be shut in every night for protection from fox and badger. I have a large fruit vegetable garden which will need some tending - mostly watering (greenhouse) and harvesting but also some weeding, possibly some strimming if you feel happy with that. I have 2 lodgers who live in a separate basement flat, with whom the laundry room is shared. The rest of the house is completely separate and lockable if you so choose (I trust them completely).
