About the Position

Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The ideal candidate would be dedicated to patient care and committed to championing the Hospital’s Mission to relieve illness and suffering, and help people live healthier lives and will be responsible for the following duties;

· Initiate aerosol therapy with prescribed medications

· Administer oxygen therapy

· Initiate and monitor patients on ventilator support

· Perform pulmonary function testing

· Initiate and administer respiratory therapy to outpatients

· Attend cardiac and respiratory arrest situations as a member of the Cardiac Arrest Team/CCRT

· Assist in the transfer of patients on ventilator support to other hospitals, as required.

· Initiate and monitor patients on BiPAP

· Monitor quality of respiratory care given
