The Republic of Kazakhstan has been a member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) since 1994. In January 2017, the IMO Statutory Audit was conducted in the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the framework of which the public administration system of Kazakhstan in the field of maritime transport was checked. Based on the results of the audit, international experts developed recommendations for further improvement of the maritime industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These recommendations, among other things, relate to the need to develop the Register of Shipping of Kazakhstan (hereinafter - RS), which carries out the functions of flag state inspectors within the framework of the requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).
