Your role as a Senior Safety Officer is to advise and facilitate compliance with governing legislations, The Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993 and its Regulations) where applicable, the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996 and its regulations) where applicable, South African supplementary standards (SANS /SABS), and other applicable legislation in line with business operations and applicable Codes of Practice, and international standards (ISO Standards).

As a qualified, knowledgeable, and experienced person, you shall provide competent advice and on-the-job training on measures to identify hazards and situations which may result in unwanted events in the workplace, recommend with guidance and understanding of operational needs, appropriate measures to minimize potential risks to humans, property damages, impact to the environment and the entire business operations with quality output.
