1.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• 1.1 Welds metal parts
as specified by layouts, diagrams, and work orders, on oral instructions using
electric arc or gas welding equipment.
• 2.2 Starts power
supply and adjusts equipment to get desired amperage from unit to get the
proper gas mixture based on type and thickness of metal and specified bead.
• 2.3 Guides
electrodes, filler rods or flux along weld lines and examines for size of bead
and penetration.
• 2.4 Tack welds,
assembles together and may weld along vertical or overhead weld lines.
• 2.5 Grinds and
chips-off excess weld, slag or splatter.
• 2.6 Performs cutting
and brazing operations.
• 2.7 Conducts visual
inspection and performs non-destructive/destructive tests of welds for possible
defects.
• 2.8 Maintains
cleanliness and proper utilization and safekeeping of machines, tools and
equipment issued; reports any malfunctioning or need for repairs of these.
